Upon the invitation of the AMIS Chair, the United States Department of Agriculture, the 13th session of the AMIS Rapid Response Forum was held in Washington, DC on Thursday, 9 May 2024. The meeting provided an overview of the situation and outlook of international food markets, with a particular focus on the four AMIS crops (wheat, maize, rice, and soybeans). In view of recent events and trading disruptions, the meeting also provided an update on the status of international food trade chokepoints.

AMIS participating countries elected Canada as the new AMIS Chair. Canada will be represented by Donald Boucher, Director-General Sector Development and Analysis Directorate, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, who will take over the position as Chair at the forthcoming meeting of the Global Food Market Information Group, scheduled for 20-21 June 2024.
