AMIS presents a support proposal to the Government of India
A mission was organized by FAO in New Delhi, India, to design and agree on AMIS’ upcoming support proposal.
Consultative meetings were organized with government officials and the Indian institutions and agencies involved in the production of data relevant to AMIS. In this context, meetings were also organized with the following different groups of the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA): the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) of the Department of Agriculture and Cooperation; the Central Statistics Office (CSO); and the Ministry of Statistics and Planning Implementation (MoSPI).
AMIS’ support proposal is currently being reviewed prior to final endorsement by the Government of India.
The proposal includes support in the following areas:
Task 1: Food grain private stocks measurement
- Output 1.1: International meeting on stock measurement
- Output 1.2: Supply chain analysis
- Output 1.3: Development of stock survey methodologies
- Output 1.4: Stock survey pilots tests.
Task 2: Market price information systems
- Output 2.1: Inventory and documentation of price information systems
- Output 2.2: Enhance relevant price information systems
- Output 2.3: Operationalize the FAO Price Tool on the DES website
Task 3: Tools and technology for price data collection
- Output 3.1: Data collection and processing: CAPI technology
- Output 3.2: Data documentation and archiving
Task 4: Modelling and agricultural outlook – Technical assistance to continue generating outlooks for the agricultural sector and institutionalizing the process
- Output 4.1: Training of DES staff on modelling aspects
- Output 4.2: One biannual short-term agricultural outlook report
- Output 4.3: One annual medium-term agricultural outlook report
