Representatives of the 11 member organizations of the AMIS Secretariat met on 21 June 2017 in Rome for the Seventh Session of the AMIS Secretariat Steering Committee. The outgoing AMIS Chair Germany and the incoming Chair Argentina were also participating in the meeting as observers.

A main focus of the meeting was to prepare for future AMIS activities in a changing market climate of lower prices and volatility. Against this background, meeting participants reviewed experiences and lessons learned of AMIS since the inception of the initiative in 2011. Discussion focused in particular on the results of an evaluation of the World Bank Group grant to AMIS, which will be published soon on the website of FAO's Office of Evaluation. The meeting elected Mr. Boubaker Ben-BelHassen of FAO's Trade and Markets Division to serve as Steering Committee Chair for another one-year term.
