Canada taking over as the new Chair of AMIS

Canada is the new AMIS Chair, represented by Mr. Donald Boucher, Director-General, Sector Development and Analysis Directorate, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. Mr. Boucher is taking over this function from Mr. Seth Meyer of the United States Department of Agriculture.
In his message to meeting attendants, Mr. Boucher thanked the outgoing Chair for his leadership over the past two years that were marked by severe challenges to global food market stability. In this context, Mr. Boucher highlighted the important role of AMIS in helping enhance global food market transparency and providing a platform for effective policy dialogue as well as his own personal commitment to further strengthening the initiative. A particiular focus in this regard will be on encouraging the active participation of AMIS focal points, recognizing that the success of AMIS crucially depends on strong country engagement.
