Friedrich Wacker of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture will be the next Chair of AMIS, taking over from Mr. Robert Johansson of the United States Department of Agriculture in June. The election took place at last week’s meeting of the AMIS Rapid Response Forum in Washington.

Mr. Wacker is Head of the Ministry's Department “International Cooperation, World Food Affairs”. He has been a long-time proponent of world food security and the work of AMIS.

As Chair, Mr. Wacker plans to strengthen collaboration among AMIS participating countries and enhance the visibility and impact of the initiative. He will assume his new role at the next meeting of the Global Food Market Information Group, scheduled for 22-23 June 2016.
